2026 New Hire Starting Salary Range: $184,376 to $204,421
2026 Salary Range: $184,376 to $234,577 (8 step salary scale)
This position is vacant following the promotion of the Deputy Director to Executive Director.

EMPLOYEE MUST RESIDE IN WASHINGTON STATE.
Summary: This position manages the complete scope of fiscal operations for the Pool. Manages all aspects of data management, collection, and analysis for usage in underwriting, risk management and claims management. Supports the Executive Director with administrative, operational and governance of the Pool. The position is relied upon to innovate, collaborate, and lead change initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency. The Deputy Director provides on-site visitation and engagement to WSTIP members on various topics including how WSTIP underwrites and rates the members, available programs and services, and WSTIP strategies and policies. The Deputy Director supervises the Senior Accountant and Accounting Specialist. Telecommuting is currently available. WSTIP’s office is in Olympia, Washington.
Required: Experience as the accounting/finance department head responsible for overseeing the department's daily operations, ensuring financial records are accurate and compliant, while supervising and developing staff. Also, four years of progressive experience performing similar professional level accounting functions (e.g. bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reimbursements, banking including bank reconciliations, asset and liability reconciliations, payroll and budget practices, preparing financial statements).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field and five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
License and Certification:
• Required: Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Desired: QuickBooks Online Certification.
• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) professional certification.

WSTIP does not pay into social security but in lieu offers a 401A plan. WSTIP offers an optional 457 deferred compensation plan as well.
PAID TIME OFF
WSTIP utilizes a paid general leave bank (combo sick leave and vacation) with new employees earning 24 days per year. Eight paid holidays are also included (holidays not included: Martin Luther King, President’s Day, and Veterans Day).
OTHER
Initially, we expect this position to receive in-person training and work from the WSTIP Office in Olympia, WA as requested for the purpose of learning the role and developing team cohesion. After a period of time, the position will shift to telecommuting as long as the employee is able to work remotely from their residence within Washington State.

There is a six-month introductory period to evaluate suitability for this position. Within the first year of service, employees are asked to complete the Insurance Institute of America course Increasing Your Insurance IQ (AINS 101).
What to Expect
Upon successfully passing the initial application stage we will select candidates for interviews. Those selected for interviews will be required to complete additional steps as part of our thorough evaluation process. Prior to the interview we will ask you to complete a computer skills assessment and a behavior profile. We will then conduct a panel interview. Be ready to show off your Excel skills by presenting an example Excel file of your choice during the interview.
Following interviews, we will select a candidate, make a conditional job offer, and then validate references, prior employment, and education.
We will refrain from contacting your current employer unless expressly permitted by you. However, we will not finalize the offer until this reference is checked.
