The purpose of this Above and Beyond recognition program is to recognize individual employees that go above and beyond their expressed job responsibilities during a significant event, demonstrating courage and heroism, or other extraordinary acts deserving recognition, resulting in a saved life or lives, and/or minimizing the impact of a loss to the agency or the public.
Members may make submissions at any time regarding individual achievements. Applications will include a detailed description of the event, video if available, a written overview of the employee, the employee’s photograph with their permission to publish the photo, and any other details the member feels important to accurately portray the event/situation the employee is being recognized for. The member’s executive director/general manager must approve any application. Individuals need to no longer be an active employee on the member’s payroll to be eligible for award.
WSTIP will accept applications and present awards all calendar year. Staff will rank the applications as they come in. The Executive Director will be presented with the ranking or deny an application. The Executive Director shall determine the award winners based on their application resulting in up to 10 cash awards of $250 and honorable mention for all other applications. Awards may be further highlighted during any WSTIP Board meeting, at the Public Transportation Conference (or Wall of Fame), and/or by using print or web-based media.
Presentation of Awards
A WSTIP representative will present the award to the individual. The WSTIP Board member will assist in determining the best way/time/event to present the award. The check will be cut from WSTIP and will be made payable to the individual who is being recognized. If any individual receives more than $599 in any one year, WSTIP will issue a Form 1099 for tax purposes.
