Course Overview

The Washington State Transit Insurance Pool is responding to constituent requests and The National Safety Council's call to prioritize mental health training as it poses a threat to worker safety and costs tens of thousands in productivity losses, absenteeism, presenteeism and workers compensation claims.  Over 30 states are reporting spikes in fatal drug overdoses and on-going concerns about rapidly increasing mental health challenges due to the disruption and distress that people are experiencing connected to Covid-19.  Now more than ever is the time for mental health training!

Join us as we create a culture of workplace wellness by offering Mental Health Basic C.A.R.E. presented by Tony Cloud, international speaker and mental health advocate.  Tony has years of experience providing services to diverse individuals who live with mental illness, substance use disorders and justice involved backgrounds.  You'll enjoy his engaging communication style as you gain an understanding of what causes mental health conditions, how they're diagnosed, and what the signs and symptoms are for the most common mental health challenges facing people today.  You'll also learn a C.A.R.E. plan that any layperson can engage - Create connection, Assess for risk of suicide or harm, Reflectively listen and Encourage self-help and professional support.  This practical response plan will enable you to care for others who may be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis.  Space is limited so sign up today!  Together we can reduce stigma, raise mental health literacy and create communities of recovery and hope.

Registration and Fees

The registration fee is $50 per person. Make checks payable to the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool.

Location and Schedule

This course will take place on Zoom. Participants will receive a Zoom link one week prior to class. The course will run from 8:00 – 12:00 with several short breaks.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your workshop registration without penalty up to Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

Cancellations made after 4/20/2021 will be charged the full workshop fee. WSTIP may cancel the class if fewer than 12 people register for the course. If the course is cancelled, participants will receive a complete refund.
