ADA Policy

ADA Policy

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990.  The ADA is civil rights legislation which requires that persons with disabilities receive transportation services equal to those available on the fixed route service. It is the policy of WSTIP that, when viewed in their entirety, services, programs, facilities, and communications provided by WSTIP, directly or by a contracted service provider, are readily accessible and usable to individuals with disabilities to the maximum extent possible. This is achieved through an ADA-compliant Website; events held in accessible spaces; and promotion materials available in alternative formats on request.

Notification of Policy

WSTIP will notify the public of the ADA policy on the website and in certain publications.

Reasonable Modification

When utilizing RTAP funds WSTIP will make reasonable modifications/accommodations to their policies, practices, and procedures to ensure program accessibility except in cases in which cause a direct threat to the health or safety of others, would result in a fundamental alteration of the service, would not actually be necessary in order for the individual with a disability to access the entity’s service, or would result in an undue financial and administrative burden.
