This course includes an introduction to principles and 4 key pillars of a Safety Management System (SMS): policy, risk, assurance, and promotion. Building upon traditional transit system safety, participants will learn about the SMS framework which includes executive leadership and accountability for safety, creating a positive safety culture, preventive risk analysis, and building an employee non-punitive safety reporting program.

This course includes an introduction to principles and 4 key pillars of a Safety Management System (SMS): policy, risk, assurance, and promotion.  Building upon traditional transit system safety, participants will learn about the SMS framework which includes executive leadership and accountability for safety, creating a
positive safety culture, preventive risk analysis, and building an employee non-punitive safety reporting program. At the end of this course, participants will have a greater awareness of critical safety practices which are available through SMS integration with transit system safety; including practical applications and exercises to begin SMS implementation.

REGISTRATION AND FEES

The registration fee is $55 per person. Lunch will be on your own.You will receive an invoice which will be due upon receipt and payable to WSTIP.

MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS

Members are determined to be employees of transportation systems providing services to the public in Washington State and members of the partner organizations that make up the Coalition. The partners are: Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Washington State Transit Insurance Pool (WSTIP), Washington State Transit Association (WSTA), Community Transportation Association of the Northwest (CTA-NW) and Eastern Washington University Northwest Tribal Technical Assistance Program.

LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

The class will be held at the Everett Station, room 415, located at 3201 Smith Avenue in Everett, WA. The workshop will begin at 8:00 am and run until 4:30 pm. Lunch will be on your own.

There is a room block at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 2931 West Marine View Drive, Everett, WA 98201, reservations must be made by 3/21/2017.  The rate is $109, please let them know when you make arrangements you are part of the room block.  Contact the hotel directly at 425-349-4466.

CANCELLATION POLICY

You may cancel your workshop registration without penalty up to Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Cancellations made after 04/12/2017 will be charged the full workshop fee. As the host for a TSI course, the Training Coalition needs to fill 12 seats. If the Training Coalition cancels the course, participants will receive a complete refund.
