 WSTIP Member Services

WSTIP’s member services department supports WSTIP’s mission by providing services that directly benefit its members in terms of loss prevention, loss reduction, and/or resource sharing.  In order to provide these services, the department embraces the following goal:

Identify and analyze existing and emerging losses and loss trends, and provide specific recommendations and resources to reduce members’ likelihood of loss.

In order to meet this goal, the department has the following strategies:

  • STANDARDS AND PROGRAMS
  • TRAINING
  • SHARING INFORMATION AND PROVIDING RESOURCES

 Standards and Programs

Best Practices Program and Integrated Risk Management Program - WSTIP is focused on re-establishing its Best Practices program by first focusing on the process of how any Best Practice is established or revised, and then proceeding to the implementation and maintenance of the Best Practice.  Best Practices are an effective way to manage and mitigate risk.  Managing risk equates to maintaining rate stability which is part of WSTIP’s mission.  Current Operational and Vanpool Best Practices are located in the Best Practices library.  The Integrated Risk Management Program uses resources on behalf of the members for necessary consulting services.  For an update on current work, please contact Tracey Christianson or Christian DeVoll.

Guest Rider Program - The Guest Rider Program provides a framework and guidelines for participating member transit agencies to exchange experienced, knowledgeable staff (operators and supervisors) that can observe and provide feedback on individual operators and the system's performance.  The rides are unannounced and the riders try to remain anonymous.  WSTIP pays the expenses for the employee exchange.  2009 participants are:  Ben Franklin Transit, Clallam Transit, Grays Harbor Transit, Kitsap Transit, Link Transit, Mason Transit, Pullman Transit, and Valley Transit.  Participants agree to not use the feedback received in the Guest Ride for formal evaluation or employee discipline except in extreme safety-sensitive situations.  For more information regarding WSTIP's Guest Rider Program, please contact Tracey Christianson.

 Washington State Transportation Training Coalition

Known by most as the Training Coalition, WSTIP is in partnership with WSDOT, Washington State Transit Association, Community Transportation Association of the Northwest, and Eastern Washington University Tribal Technical Assistance Program.  The Training Coalition coordinates approximately 20 training events each year at various locations throughout the state.  WSTIP members can access all classes through the member portal.  Outside guests can visit the Training Coalition website for class information (www.wsttc.org).

 Certificate of Insurance

A Certificate of Insurance can be used as proof of insurance (as can the Declarations Page of your Coverage Agreement), or it can be used to extend your coverage to another entity.  A member's coverage can only be extended by contractual agreement or due to law or ordinance.  A copy of the contract must be included in order to get a Certificate of Insurance.
